A native of St. Louis, Patricia A. McGuire, MD has been a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for over 15 years. She has spent her entire medical career in Missouri, and has dedicated her practice to enhancing the natural beauty of each and every one of her clients.
After graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a BA in Biology, Dr. McGuire moved on to the University's medical school, where she received her M.D. in May, 1985. She spent her internship and surgical residency at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis at Washington University, where she was appointed attending surgeon. Dr. McGuire completed her training in plastic surgery in 1991, was appointed Clinical Instructor of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, and also served at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis Surgical Center, and Healthsouth Outpatient Surgery Center.
Dr. McGuire is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and was awarded the American Medical Women's Association Award for Academic Achievement. Since 2004 she has served as President of the St. Louis Area Society of Plastic Surgeons, and she ranked in Alive Magazine's Best Doctors, Plastic Surgery in 2006. Furthermore, during a recent survey in St. Louis Magazine, her peers listed her as one of the top eight plastic surgeons that they would refer to a family member.
She is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Medical Women's Association, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, and the St. Louis Area Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. McGuire is also one of the few doctors in the United States trained as a Clinical Investigator for Inamed "gummi bear" breast implants. This implant has changed the way surgeons and patients approach breast augmentation, and her clinic is one of the first of 60 sites that supported this advanced procedure.
Medicine is more than a calling for Dr. McGuire; it is a family value. Her twin sister is also a doctor as well as the Director of the Bone Health Clinic and the dean of 4th year students at Washington University School of Medicine. Identical twins that are both doctors in the same city has led to several occasions where patients mistook one doctor for another, with the predictable humorous outcome. She is married to an orthopedic surgeon, and her two daughters and three dogs continue to provide her with endless joy and pride throughout her medical career.
To Dr. McGuire, plastic surgery is part science, part art. "My surgical philosophy is that the simplest (or least complicated) way of doing something is usually the best, and carries the lowest complications," says Dr. McGuire. "I strive for a natural looking result, 'too good to be true.' I always tell my breast augmentation patients that I want people to wonder if they have had breast surgery when they are at the pool, because they couldn't look that good naturally, but not to look silly and obviously operated."
"Dr. McGuire, I want to thank you for all that you have done for me. I think of you daily as I marvel at the work that you did. You have given me back something that is indescribable. Self worth, self-esteem, dignity, I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's all of these things and more. I am so thankful that I was put in contact with you and that you chose to become a doctor. Keep up the good work."

Dr. McGuire, I don't think my words or actions could ever express my thanks and gratitude to you. You have not only made me look wonderful and beautiful on the outside but also magnificent on the inside. I never thought I could even look like this until I met you. After my Mom and I left your office last Friday when I was able to see myself, I started to cry. That was probably the first time I've ever cried from being so excited. Not only were you a wonderful doctor but also a neat person for listening to me and where I wanted to go. I guess what I want to say is thank you for making me beautiful.

Dear Dr. McGuire, First, I want to say a special "thank you" for making it possible to regain my figure back! I will not hesitate to return to you should I pursue any other cosmetic procedure in the future. Also, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to you, your staff, and the staff at Health Care South for the professionalism and superb bedside manner displayed before and after my liposuction procedure. Job well done!
