Dr. William Swartz received a B.A from Johns Hopkins University in 1968 before moving on to Dartmouth Medical School for his B.M.S. and finally to the University of Colorado Medical School for his M.D. in 1972. Dr. Swartz interned at several prestigious institutions throughout the United States including Dartmouth-Hitchcock Affiliated Hospitals and Rhode Island Hospital-Brown University. After establishing his credentials as a dedicated medical professional, Dr. Swartz proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Portsmouth, Virginia from 1978 to 1980.
After leaving the Navy, Dr. Swartz served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Charity Hospital of Louisiana. Dr. Swartz then moved to Pennsylvania to become Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburg School of Medicine. Dr. Swartz is one of the most sought after medical experts in America and around the world, has been published over 150 times, and was elected by his peers to The Best Doctors in America.
In addition to serving on The American Board of Plastic Surgeons board of directors, Dr. Swartz is a member of the American Medical Association, Northeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Greater Pittsburgh Plastic Surgery Society, Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Reconstructive Surgeons, and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He has been a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon since 1979, and has extensive experience in microvascular surgery and surgery of the hand.
