Dr. Mark Vincent Sofonio is a native of the Desert community who strives to bring quality care and aesthetic excellence to cosmetic surgery. He is dedicated to ensuring that each of his patients receives the most compassionate, effective, and satisfying experience possible. Dr. Sofonio also has an unwavering commitment to patient safety and performs procedures onsite in his state of the art surgical center approved by the State of California Institute for Medical Quality. He also requires that only Board Certified M.D. anesthesiologists are utilized for all anesthetic related surgeries.
Dr. Sofonio graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors from the accelerated UCR/UCLA combined undergraduate/medical school program. He then continued on to serve an internship and General Surgery residency at the University of Hawaii before completing his Plastic Surgery Residency training at the Medical College of Ohio. He completed several post residency fellowships and ran a Burn Unit/Wound Care Center at the Medical College of New York, as well as receiving specialized surgical training at the Connell Aesthetic Surgery Institute from some of the most acclaimed aesthetic surgeons in the world.
Dr. Sofonio is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a prolific publisher and lecturer in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He enjoys membership in several prestigious organizations including the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Burn Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Sofonio was the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Eisenhower Medical Center from 1999 - 2005. He enjoys full privileges at Desert Hospital as well.

Dear Mark, This note is long overdue. I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated the work you did on my eyelids. As a result of your work my vision is much improved and an eye irritation I have been experiencing over the past two years has completely gone away. It was something my ophthalmologist could not cure and said it was just an "old age" condition I would have to endure. My eyes are visible, no longer droopy or tired looking. Thanks to your skill and care there are no visible traces that you did any work.
