The State of Delaware, is located on the Atlantic Coast in the mid-atlantic region of the country. The state takes its name from Thomas West, a British nobleman and Virginia's first colonial governor. A mere 96 miles long and ranges from 9 to 35 miles across, makes Delaware the second smallest state. 2007 estimates place the population of Delaware ranking 45th in the nation, but 6th in population density. Dover is the state capital, but Wilmington is the largest city and economic hub. Ranked by per capita income, Greenville, Henlopen Acres, South Bethany, Dewey Beach and Fenwick Island are some of the wealthiest areas in Delaware.
