Dermal Fillers - The Fountain of Youth

When Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon’ set out to sea, his ultimate goal was to discover the fountain of youth. Now, five centuries later, it seems like everyone is still on that very same expedition. In a world of the anti-aging quest combined with instant gratification, dermal fillers seem to be the answer to a “temporary fountain of youth”.

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid gel used to fill smaller wrinkles and folds that form around the nose and mouth. It most commonly used these days for lip augmentation. This non-animal hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is found within in our skin, as we age it diminishes, causing our skin to lose elasticity.

Approved by the FDA, it is long lasting but, not permanent with results lasting 6-8 months. Restylane can be considered a “lunchtime procedure” which is appealing to women and men. In less than one hour you can have instant added volume and smooth skin with nearly no downtime and very low risk of complications.

More studies have been done on Restylane than any other dermal filler on the market. It has been used for over a decade with more than 1.4 million treatments in the United States alone and is in over 70 countries worldwide.

With any injectable filler into the face there are risks of bruising, tenderness, and allergic reactions. However, Restylane resembles the body's own natural supply of hyaluronic acid therefore, there is less chance of side effects.

With such instant fountains of youth, one can understand why this segment of cosmetic surgery has been the fastest growing for the past decade.
