Next Generation Spa | MedSpa

Now is the time when society has finally acknowledged the healing benefits derived from spa and wellness treatments. Which brings about the arrival of the latest trend: the Medical Spa. This “hybrid” consists of a medical spa and a day spa all in one. In other words medical and wellness combined under the same roof.

Dermatologists and plastic surgeons alike or becoming more interested into expanding their practices to accommodate a variety of patients. The primary purpose of the medical spa is to offer services with minimal discomfort without a sterile medical environment for the procedure or any post-op care.

Anti-aging procedures are obviously the most popular and requested service. Sometimes cosmetic surgeons will even open medical spas as an adjunct to their practice, so they can up-sell more services.

A medical spa differs from a day spa whereas medical, cosmetic and wellness treatments are offered. A properly designed medical spa menu would consist of treatments that would enhance each other, for instance: microdermabrasion followed by a therapeutic oxygen facial.

One of the most important attributes to the medical spa is one of a relaxed atmosphere to enhance the quality of time spent during your visit. “A Medical Spa is the perfect balance between clinical and luxury.” Usually several doctors along with esthetic staff are on site that offer a variety of procedures which can be enhanced by adding any type of service to help speed post-op care or simply to enjoy the healing benefits.

Below are some of the more requested treatments:

  • microdermabrasion
  • botox
  • laser teeth whitening
  • chemical peels
  • collagen injections
  • laser hair removal
  • liposuction

Range of products is also crucial in development of a successful medical spa. Pharmaceutical companies have created new lines of product for medical spa patients and procedures. Which in turn, causes insurance companies to take a new approach to coverage due to these medical procedures within a healing environment.

This type of east meets western medicine can only grow and become the wave of the future within the spa industry.
